- What is the Kaua`i All-Island Band? A full description of the band is on our Home Page.
- Why was the Kaua`i All-Island Band founded? The band was founded to provide an opportunity for students from all over the island to join together through music to travel the world. By opening up travel opportunities to all of the students on our island, we are able to collectively perform a larger variety of events. The band is designed for everyone to improve their performance skills on their instrument because the older, more advanced students mentor the younger students on how to improve on their instrument. We work together to achieve the best level of performance that we can in a supportive and education-focused atmosphere.
- What is the age group for Kaua`i All-Island Band? For our next trip, students can be as young at 7th graders and as old as college freshmen to join the ensemble.
- Where is the next trip for Kaua`i All-Island Band and why? Our next trip will be to Japan. We will be performing in our sister cities of Moriyama and Suo-Oshima. We represent students from all over the island so it is important for us to make connections with our sister cities in Japan.
- How long are trips usually? Our trips are usually between 8-10 days long, depending on the destination.
- What will my child take away from Kaua`i All-Island Band? The experiences your child will have with the Kaua`i All-Island Band will create memories that will last a lifetime. Younger, less experienced musicians will be mentored by the older students on how to improve on their instruments. The older, more experienced musicians will get a chance to learn leadership skills and achieve even higher levels of performance. Being a member of the KAIB will help with college and scholarship applications.
- What if I can’t afford the trips? We have lots of fundraisers planned for your child to participate in to help lower the cost of the trip.
- How do I pay for the trip? Payments for the trip run through Seawind Tours and Travel, our travel agent.
- How often are fundraisers? We will have an average of one fundraiser per month planned. Click here to find out more information about our fundraisers.
- When and where are the practices? How often are rehearsals? You can see a draft of our full schedule here.
- How do I sign up/enroll for myself or for my child? Registration must both be done with Seawind Tours and Travel and on this form for with the Kaua`i All-Island Band.
- What is your attendance policy? We want to perform at our best. It is important that all students attend all rehearsals. Upfront communication about conflicts is requested if a student is unable to make a particular rehearsal.
- Will my child need a Passport to travel to Japan? Yes, every participant will need a Passport to travel to Japan. Students who are not citizens of the United States of America may also need to obtain a visa to enter Japan. We are able to help with that.
- What travel agency do you use? We have used Seawind Tours and Travel for many years now because they provide great service and we have an established relationship with them.
